Have you been to a party recently? I bet he had a chocolate fountain on the dessert table. Now that you’ve had a taste of fun, you’re probably excited to host a chocolate fountain on your next pimple dig. But unless you’re a seasoned user of these towers of decay, your dessert table and guests are likely covered in a deliciously sticky mess. Here are some tips to keep the chocolate flowing and the tablecloth clean.
1. Freeze food ahead of time so the chocolate hardens immediately. You can freeze fresh fruits like strawberries, banana chunks, pineapple chunks, and seedless grapes. Add a little mango for something more exotic.
2. Prepare for drips. If you prefer not to freeze your food, it is best to be prepared for lots of “oops” and “oh-no”. The best thing to do is to use a nice plastic tablecloth to cover the dinner table and to place lots of small plates and napkins for your guests. A basket full of “wet wipes” never hurts. Even if you freeze the food, accidents will still occur. By planning them, you and your guests can relax and enjoy the party.
3. Scoop out some small spoons. Some foods are not made to be wet and work best if your guests can put some chocolate on top of their cake, pound cake, or pound cake. This will keep the crumbs out of the chocolate, allowing it to work properly.
4. Choose the right type of chocolate. If you are offering naturally sweet foods like marshmallows and fruits, opt for dark or semi-dark chocolate. You can offer a second platter full of milk chocolate for less sugary foods like pretzels. If you can’t offer separate sources, try mixing equal parts dark and milk chocolate to make a delicious blended chocolate that goes well with everything. White chocolate is always a decadent hit and is expected at the most sophisticated events like weddings and gala socials.
5. Don’t be shy. Post signs that remind guests that “no fingers please and” no wetting twice. “Excited party guests may forget their manners. Help them by providing plenty of cocktail sticks and bamboo skewers for a wet dip. Proper wetting equipment will also reduce drips and accidents.
Follow these five tips, but then use your imagination to get the most out of your chocolate fountain. Let the dive begin!
