Have you heard about the new alkaline diet coming onto the market this spring? Are you wondering what it is and how you can lose weight with this diet?
First of all, let’s find out what an alkaline diet really is.
Also known as the pH Miracle, the pH Balance Diet, the BioBalance Diet, or the Acid Alkaline Diet. The Alkaline Diet is based on the theory that through care and attention to the food we eat, you can improve your bodily functions, which are respiration, perspiration, digestion and elimination so that you can run your body as more efficient way.
So, let’s say for example that you are trying to lose weight, in order for your body to lose weight at its most effective level, your digestive and respiratory organs must be set up for their healthiest level. If you eat only one meal a day and wonder why you’re not losing weight, it’s partly because your respiratory and sweating systems aren’t working properly due to a lack of alkalinity in your body.
One of the alkaline diet guidelines is that you should aim to eat 75-80% alkaline foods. Certain foods are considered more acidic than others.
To give you an idea of which acidic foods you should avoid in large quantities, here are some: Beer, jam, table salt, ice cream, soft drinks, lobster, fried foods, beef and cured cheeses.
Here’s a fun fact!: A can of Coca-Cola, for example, has a pH value of 2.5, making it highly acidic. To neutralize that can of Coca-Cola you will need to drink 32 glasses of water!
However, on the other hand, there are foods that have a high alkaline content. So, to raise the pH after that can of Coke, foods like watermelon, lotus flower, sea salt, tangerines, lime, pineapple, seaweed, lentils, and pumpkin seeds. Pumpkin are great for maintaining a healthy pH level.
