I was at Powell’s bookstore to buy a book called Foundation. It’s a great book and I’ll outline it below. I saw this book in the used section and bought it. What intrigued me is the use of oxygen. I have been doing oxygen therapy based on the book “Flood Your Body with Oxygen” and so far it has been beneficial.
Why is this important to me?
I realize that there are people who hate exercising. For me it is not like that but for people who want to lose weight this can be a good alternative. Deep breathing is beneficial on many levels for relaxation, meditation, and stress relief. Deep breathing magnifies the power of oxygen in the internal environment of the body, including the blood and lymphatic systems.
Oxycise is a book that promotes weight loss through isometric bending and deep breathing. I will focus on the three important questions of what, why and how.
1. What is it? Oxycise is a 15-minute routine that combines deep breathing and different pushup poses to help you lose weight and tone up.
2. Why is it important? There are two things I picked up on in this book that hit me right in the face. One is that fat is excreted from the body through CO2. I’m sure the doctors in the public would say this is obvious, but I never thought about it. Also, when you flex an area of your body, you increase blood flow there and increase the need for oxygen. So the second important point is actually a question: can you reduce your body fat? I have seen various articles promoting that this is not possible, which very well may be the case. If we just look at the logic, this routine can help you reduce points because you’re increasing the blood supply to, say, an area you want to tone, and by taking a deep breath, you’re exhaling fat via CO2. For those of you who want to reduce or get rid of cellulite, this may be something to try.
3. How does it work? Jill goes over different exercises in the book that are very low impact and perfect for those of you who hate working out or going to the gym. To see some examples, just search for Oxycise on YouTube or Google and you’ll be able to follow the routines.
Oxycise may be something you want to try. I haven’t, but I can tell you that I take deep breaths on my daily commute to work, as well as during stretches. The effects are outstanding. I did Matt Fury’s Combat abs routine, which incorporates focused deep breathing to help jumpstart fat loss and it WORKS.
I hope you found this short summary useful. The key to any new idea is to work it into your daily routine until it becomes a habit. Habits are formed in as little as 21 days. One thing you can take away from this book is daily deep breathing. I implore you to do a deep breathing routine every day. The easiest way to do this is when you drive to work. Try this routine: Breathe in for a count of 10 (from your belly, not your chest), hold your breath for a count of 10, and breathe out slowly for a count of 10 and imagine your belly button touching your twist as you breathe out. Do this ten times over 30 days and you will feel light years better.
