The evangelist is one who is given the mandate to evangelize the world with the good news of God. This mandate is not an option for the follower of Christ, nor is it the exclusive province of a few idealists who choose to be different; God wants all believers to be a part of this ministry.
However, in making a worldwide witness of every believer’s business, the integrity of the Lord Jesus is at stake. He has to define the task and describe the kind of life the believer is to live, so the order is great. As the Bible declares that every human being has distanced himself from God by sin, and is already condemned, God owes salvation to no one but by grace, which He freely offers through his Son Jesus Christ. This means that everyone who is not saved through Jesus Christ will face a hopeless future. As a result of this, every Christian is called to the ministry of evangelism. Since half of humanity is headed for eternal separation from God without even knowing that Christ came to open a way for them back to God, it will be our fault if we don’t give them this life-giving information. We must bear the blame if we fail to be open to receive God’s full revelation of our role as evangelists and bring these souls back to Him.
Can you see how incredible our indifference to this mandate to make disciples of the nations for God can be? Despite God’s mandate for us to evangelize the people; we are still indifferent to making a move. Our ability to accept as fact the utter doom of humanity and yet remain quite apathetic about all people who have not yet been reached by God’s good news about Christ is terrifying. God has called us to this ministry that seeks and saves souls by taking the gospel of Christ to the place of people. Anyone who receives the gift of an evangelist is vital to the growth of the Church. Evangelists see a lost world and are strongly motivated by God to carry the Gospel message on every possible occasion. If he has this gift, he can sometimes feel that other Christians have little desire to reach the lost.
The importance of evangelism has to do with winning souls, which is a fundamental theme, based on the fact that one soul is of more value to God than the whole world put together. The value of a soul cannot be quantified and therefore this knowledge generates a correct attitude to win souls. Our situation has been the lack of a deep understanding of the incalculable value of souls and the place of souls in the mind of God. When the correct knowledge of the value of a soul is obtained, the fate of the unrepentant souls (unreached multitude) but who departed and the reward of winning souls, winning souls that until now has been boring, burdensome, terrifying and uninteresting for most will be embraced with great zeal. , joy and sense of urgency.
It is evident that the soul of a man is the never-dying aspect of a composite being called man. By composite we mean that it is made up of body, soul and spirit. The body aspect of man must surely die, but the soul and spirit of a man (good or bad) will continue to exist either in eternal bliss or in horror. The value of a soul is best seen from the question our Lord asked in Matthew 16:26: “What will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul, or what will a man give for his soul? “What the Lord really meant is that the world, with everything in it, is worthless compared to the value of a single soul. The above reasons show that Jesus Christ left the glory of heaven to descend to earth, to suffer death on the cross, for which humanity could benefit from it.
Winning souls is a responsibility that cannot be replaced by any other responsibility, without attracting the wrath of a Holy God, who wants all men to be saved. Those who would like God not to see them as wicked, lazy, and worthless must seriously reconsider their attitude toward soul winning. It is terrible to realize that hundreds of thousands of men who die daily without serious concern for their eternal welfare due to our negligence, will spend their eternity horrified by hell crying out against us for their wickedness. How can God not require his blood at our hand? Believers kill sinners and cast them into hell fire for neglecting their responsibility.
It is high time we seriously thought about this matter. God does not compromise the standard of his word. If a generation or a city chooses to ignore God, he will perish. Ignorance is not an excuse to sin. This makes the responsibility of the soul winner mandatory and indispensable. The consequence of negligence is serious on the part of both the soul winner and the neglected soul. Because of this truth, the apostle Paul vowed to preach and rigidly fulfill his responsibility as an evangelist (soul winner). Is he gifted as an evangelist? Remember that evangelistic ministry is also used here to include missionary ministry. People with the gift of a missionary have their eyes set on seeing men and women brought to Christ in remote and unreached places. People with this gift have a strong desire to bring Christ to other cultures to people who have never heard of Him before. Do you have a strong charge and ability to point men and women to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ? Let me know!
