Staying physically fit requires resolve! Nothing is more important than deciding to follow a fitness plan. During the holidays, many of us make a New Year’s resolution to get fit and healthy, but I’m here to tell you that every day is the time for a health and fitness resolution. Although we often blame external circumstances for our poor health (eg, office treats, fast food, “the holidays”), in reality, the real barrier preventing us from reaching our fitness goals is our own procrastination. .
How often have we said to ourselves, “Someday that dress will fit me,” or “Eventually I’ll get back to my college weight”? Time and time again we delay our health and fitness resolutions until a future date. It’s time to stop this incessant procrastination because all we end up doing is having a perpetual craving… a craving without end. Resolve to make these dreams a reality. The time of delay has come to an end. As Shakespeare says, “Do not put off time; delays have perilous ends.”
The secret to living a healthy life is based on realizing that tomorrow never comes! Our tomorrow is nothing more than the consequences of the decisions we make today. When we think about it, it becomes obvious that today is all we have. The past no longer exists. The future is yet to come. The present is all that exists! The person you want to be in the future will therefore only exist when the person you really are resolves to do something… NOW. Once again, every day is a health and fitness resolution!
To achieve your long-term fitness goals requires a commitment. There are no short cuts! What this will entail is different for each person. The best way to maximize your time and effort is to work with a personal trainer. He or she will help you determine what exercises and diet are best for your physical condition and living situation. It’s much easier to reach your fitness goals when you have a daily plan that tells you how to get there.
Despite numerous gimmicks, fad diets, and fancy exercise plans, reaching your optimal health and fitness goals is actually quite simple. It requires two ingredients; 1) an exercise plan that suits your body type and goals, 2) your determination and resolve to follow this plan, every day! I’m not saying you have to train every day, it’s the mindset you want to master. Armed with this double attack, the physical fitness will lose its mysterious and elusive quality. Diet and exercise plans are available. Finding a program that works for you is very possible. The real question you must ask yourself is this; “Do I have the resolve and determination to work toward my goals every day?” Do I sincerely want every day to be a health and fitness resolution?
The great secret to happiness in life is realizing that today is all we have. The seeds of the future are present in the small decisions you make today. Every day is an opportunity and an invitation for you to become the new and improved you. Do you want to be healthier? Do you want to increase your fitness level? So make the resolution today, and every day, to do what is required! Make every day a health and fitness resolution.
You can do it! You really can be the person you want to be. It all depends on how much you want it. It is this very desire, nay, this determination, that will transform your fitness goals into reality!
