Many things can be customized. Many personalized things are also a great promotion. But some are older. Personalized water bottles are among the largest. And therefore they also make excellent corporate gifts.
It’s true, personalized water bottles make great corporate gifts. But not all the time.
Most marketers are right when it comes to matching the gift to the gift recipient. Most marketers don’t give a custom bottle to someone who’s going to hate it. But most marketers still get corporate gifts wrong, whether they’re bottles, mugs, or whatever.
They’re wrong because they don’t think about marketing promotional products, or marketing at all, quite right. By that I mean they create marketing campaigns that don’t aim to touch the corporate gift recipient enough times. Some actually devise campaigns where the recipient is touched just once, maybe twice.
That is one of the themes.
The second issue: they go for cheap bottles. Cheap and expensive are always in relation to the lifetime value of your potential or potential customer. If you’ve determined they’re worth a personalized water bottle, don’t give them a cheap one. Which is not to say that you have to pay a lot for each bottle, but there are cheap and cheap bottles. Stick with the cheap. Just to be clear, the cheap ones don’t cost much, but they are quality products with quality customization.
The third problem, the fact that you give a personalized water bottle to someone who is going to like it does not mean that you have made a good marketing move. In other words, many marketers don’t segment or segment well.
If you’re a chiropractor, for example, giving away your personalized water bottles to gym members seems like a good idea. People who go to gyms are more likely to be in wellness and need occasional tune-ups. Also, they are very thirsty in the gym.
Giving them to people who are walking a 5K ‘race’ to sponsor a charity is not such a good idea. Yes, some of them are fit, but they are there primarily for the charity fundraising aspect of the event.
Giving them to everyone who walks through your front door seems like an even less useful idea. For most chiropractors. You can be located between 2 gyms and in front of 3 more and then it’s not a bad idea.
The point, though, is to think carefully about who you give your corporate gifts to, and then try. Then think a little more. Then try.
But why are personalized water bottles business gifts?
Because they are useful and, unless you go for cheap items, also pretty. The usefulness of a promotional product is the main factor that determines whether people keep it or not. Look it’s the 2nd. So with personalized water bottles you get two main reasons right. Which means a lot of people will keep them. Which means you give yourself plenty of opportunities to get your message seen.
Also, unless you choose miniature water bottles, they have a large enough surface area to personalize them. That is, there is space for your logo and a call to action large enough to be seen by the people who are looking at the person using your personalized water bottle. And of course, your gift recipient won’t have to squint either.
So yes, personalized water bottles make great corporate gifts. So using them right does wonders for your bottom line.
