The tiny Sony VAIO VGN-P530H Lifestyle PC costs a whopping $800, and despite the lack of storage, it comes packed with cutting-edge features. Specifically, 3G WAN mobile broadband for Internet on the go and Bluetooth for device-laptop communication… not to mention GPS.
Weight
Sony has innovated once again with the lightest mini notebook on the market at 1.4 pounds.
Storage
It only has a 60GB hard drive, but it’s a Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive, which means it has the file transfer speeds of a USB or Firewire drive.
Memory
It contains 2 GB of RAM.
Processor
An Intel 1.33Ghz processor with a 533MHz front side bus for much faster data transfer in those demanding mobile applications and a 512KB L2 cache that can temporarily store data.
DVD/CD drive
Of course there isn’t one, but it does have 2 USB ports for the use of external drives.
connectivity
Comes with:
An integrated 54g wireless LAN that is compatible with 802.11b/g/n networks.
2 USB 2.0 ports.
It has a memory stick duo slot.
One SD card slot (with MMC compatibility).
1 VGA monitor port.
1 I/O port.
Headphone jack.
AV screen
An 8-inch screen has a high definition resolution of 1600 x 768.
Drums
You get up to 4 hours of battery life.
Warranty
Sony offers you a 1-year limited warranty and 1-year technical support.
advantage
Weight: 1.4 lbs. It is the lightest on the market.
2 GB of RAM is rarely standard on mini laptops.
The design: very elegant and as thin as a cell phone.
An option to use 3G broadband is exceptional. Great for video on the go or GPS capability.
cons
The storage: 60GB tells you that Sony isn’t looking to reach any demographic that cares about the insides of the PC.
The price, if you can afford it, isn’t a bad buy, but something tells me the next model will be much better, if you hang in there a bit.
The battery life: about the same as a regular laptop, 4 hours is not good enough for a mini laptop.
