As Voltaire noted, “Nothing would be more irksome than eating and drinking if God had not made them a pleasure as well as a necessity.” These are some of the best restaurants in the Utah Valley, sure to be a treat.
best breakfast
Kolaches from Hruska. This quaint little shop is right on Center Street in Provo, conveniently located near my favorite bookstore, Pioneer Books. Their kolaches are inexpensive, fresh all day, and the perfect breakfast to meet up with friends or grab something to go. My favorites are the tasty meat-filled kolaches.
Runner-up: Magleby’s. Bacon. Bacon. Maple flavored bacon. This is a classic Provo restaurant, great for a sit down breakfast with the family.
best thai
Spicy Thai. This is the best Thai food in the entire valley, and they have a lot of competition. My personal favorite dishes are Yellow Pumpkin Curry with Chicken and Pad Thai. The restaurant is comfortable and the service is always fast and friendly.
Better to eat fast and cheap
sexy sandwich. I spent less than $3, was totally stuffed and it was delicious. I have something spicy with cream cheese. Okay
(Runner up: NuSkin Cafe: Pretty good, pretty cheap. I recommend the enchiladas. And the one-egg meal for breakfast.)
best burger
So Provo is pretty saturated with burgers and far from me claiming to have experience on which one is the best, but while I think In-N-Out is hard to beat, Five Guys and Smashburger put up a pretty good fight.
The best grilled food
They mostly just have sliders, but I don’t really consider it a Marley’s… burger joint. (AKA Harley Davidson Grill) VERY good. I’m lovin ‘it. The original location is in Timponogos, but a new location has opened at the Riverwoods Mall in Provo. Both are great, but if you want to buy a Harley, go with their slider.
The best classy restaurant
Communal. I loved everything I ate here. Very elegant, very good service, very good atmosphere, and quite expensive. But if you’re looking for something legitimately nice in Provo, this is it. I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t love. I have often tried to recreate my meals from there at home, usually not even close to the original, confirming my suspicion that they use magic in the kitchen.
So there they are. What are some of your favorite Utah Valley restaurants?
