The greatest fighter to ever live, even though the sport is relatively young, there have been many great fighters that have graced the ring, the cage and, without exception, Fedor has been the best. It’s no mystery, but he has the power to make people like him.
Perhaps it is the fact that Fedor is such a modest person. He was born in the Ukraine but his parents went to Russia and took him with them. He grew up in a small town. He was not born perfect, he had some problems with his limbs and his body when he was a baby, the main reason why his parents went to Russia to get better treatment. To think that a kid with some body issues of his own and still has them when he grew up beat a tough heavyweight monster is just unbelievable.
It is often said that those who are handicapped in life challenge it more than others. Perhaps the case in this situation. He is loved for being modest, it shows with his low lifestyle, he doesn’t have a strict diet or anything like that, maybe that’s why his weight looks so natural and round. He is also a devout Christian but says that he can fight because that is passion and has nothing to do with his beliefs. He is also a great father, he loves his family and often talks about how they motivate them to perform. His little girl likes to watch him fight, but her older one knows the consequences of injuries, so she avoids looking at them.
Fedor’s mother was a teacher, so he was quite engaged in school, and also spent some time in the army.
One thing Fedor has often said is that he loves the sport, but he loves representing his country, Russia. This is the highest honor for him, higher than any belt or tournament. Often when he wins his fights, he goes for the Russian flag first before the championship belt (although the WAMMA belt doesn’t mean much). He just shows that Fedor has pride and every time he goes out, he defends more than a random belt.
Fedor remains the number one pound for pound MMA fighter in every MMA point rating system out there. There are rumors that he could return to MMA, but you never know. One thing is for sure, it will continue to be the field for the people.
